Approved Professional Development/Continuing Education Courses

Certification Standards require in Section .03 G. (4) "The instructor or training supervisor shall successfully complete 12 hours of professional development in instructional methodology or training safety. A maximum of 6 hours of approved professional development can be in the area of training safety within the three-year period." This requirement applies to both instructors and training supervisors.

In an effort to clarify what courses are considered acceptable in addressing the 12-hour requirement for recertification, the Board is developing a list of approved courses. Courses will be added and deleted on a regular basis. If you have a question concerning the acceptability of a particular program, please contact the MICRB office for the appropriate process to submit a program for review. PDI MUST be approved prior to submission for credit toward your 12-hour requirement. The Board will make a determination on a case-by-case basis with the appropriate documentation

Effective July 1, 2010 the Board will no longer accept any sessions of ITC II TOWARD THE 12 HOUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENT FOR RECERTIFICATION. The Instructor Training Course Level II was never intended to replace Professional Development/Continuing Education for instructors but was offered as an alternative for instructors who may have had difficulty in the past achieving the full 12 hours as required by the Standard. Since a significant number of PDI opportunities are now available, the Board has elected to discontinue this option.

Redundant or repeated PDI will NOT be approved for credit for subsequent recertification periods.
