Paramedic Refresher Course EMS-301
Instructional Hours: 40
Objective: The Paramedic Refresher Course is a forty (40) hour, ten-module course that consists of interactive lectures, hands-on skills and simulation sessions and small group scenarios.
Successful completion of the course requires attendance for all ten modules, proficiency in the evaluation stations and a minimum score of 70% on the written examination.
The continuing education hours are approved by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS) www.miemss.org and are recognized by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) www.nremt.org.
For the Maryland Cardiac Rescue Technician this course will provide sixteen (16) hours of approved Category A and sixteen (16) hours of approved Category B and eight (8) hours of Category "2" continuing education credit.
For the EMT-Intermediate (99) and the EMT-Paramedic, this course, when accompanied by an approved Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course (8 HR) will meet the mandatory and flexible re-registration requirements (Section 1A and 1B) of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) www.nremt.org.
These courses are offered free of charge to those providers affiliated with a Maryland fire, rescue or emergency services department. For all others, the course cost is $325.00. The required Student Manual will be provided to all participants for use during the two-day course at no charge.

ACE Credit Recommendations: Credit Recommendation: Version 1: In the lower division baccalaureate/associate or in the upper division bacalaureate degree category, 3 semester hours in Emergency Medical Services Administration, Community Health, or Allied Health Care (10/04). Version 2: in the lower division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 3 semester hours in Emergency Medical Services, Community Health Care or Allied Health (2/09).
