The objective of this course is to identify problems having an impact on organizational effectiveness; to apply creative problem solving for continuous improvement; to use quantifiable information to justify recommendations; and to develop strategies for implementing change. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to provide leadership and direction for their fire department. Major topics covered in the course are environmental scanning, paradigm shifts, and methods for re-framing problems accurately; group problem-solving techniques; and managing change. Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, individual and group activities, final examinations, and observations. |
