Certification Training Programs for DoD Installations in the U.S. and Internationally

The University of Maryland's Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute is a global education and training organization. We can present a series of training programs at our various facilities in Maryland or at your DoD installation anywhere in the world.

• Our training programs can be flexibly scheduled to accommodate your organization's training demands.
• The Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute provides experienced, qualified instructional staff and all student materials. Student activities and a final examination are included in each program.
• The programs are based upon Job Performance Requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standards.
• Each student must meet the minimum DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification prerequisites for program entry and certification.
• Students are eligible for certification, in accordance with the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (NBFSPQ - the Pro Board), on successful completion of these training programs.
• HQ AFCESA/CEXF accepts Pro Board training through a Reciprocity Agreement.
• Students successfully completing our programs can also apply for college equivalent credits through the American Council on Education (ACE) program.
• Our Institute is a member of the Central Contracting Registration program within the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). We are also affiliated with the DLA's Prime Vendor Program.
• Government purchase forms, cash, checks, credit cards or electronic transfers are accepted for payment.

To Schedule Dates:

To schedule classes at your site, please make arrangements at least 45 days prior to the delivery date (60 days prior for installations outside the U.S.) so we can select an instruction team, purchase airline tickets if applicable, and secure lodging. We also request a complete registration list at least two weeks prior to the class start date.

Written Approval:

For contract classes, the signed contract proposal must be returned to the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute, from the host facility, at least 30 days prior to the formal scheduling (45 days prior for installations outside the U.S.) of the training program.

Payment Arrangements:

Payment to the University of Maryland (Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute), either by individual registrant or the DoD installation facility scheduling the training program, must be completed at least 14 days prior (30 days prior for installations outside the U.S.) to the program delivery. We require government Form 9, Form 1556 or equivalency, Purchase Order, government contract order, credit card information (Visa, MasterCard or Discover), check or electronic transfer. Even if payment is to be by credit card, the card information must be received at least two weeks prior to the scheduled program. Please make special arrangements if payment is to be split among various offices within the same DoD facility or with several installations taking the same program.

Cancellation:

In the event that cancellation is necessary after written approval has been received for a mutually scheduled program, the scheduling organization (host facility) is responsible for costs to the University of Maryland's Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute in pre-purchased travel. Substitution by individuals within a unit is permitted based upon two-week advanced notification to the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute.
