Certified Fire Protection Specialist Preparatory Seminar
The
two-day seminar is designed to provide the participant with the
skills and knowledge to quickly access the 18th edition of the
NFPA Fire Protection Handbook for preparation to take the
Certified Fire Protection Specialist (C.F.P.S.) examination
offered by the C.F.P.S. Board, a component of the National Fire
Protection Association, Quincy, Massachusetts.
The seminar will focus on techniques for utilizing your
own Fire Protection Handbook (open-book exam) to quickly
determine answers and solutions to sample questions pertaining
to fire protection from the various topics and categories
identified in the text.

Fire Inspector I Certification Course -NFPA 1031
The
Fire Inspector I conducts basic fire inspections and applies
codes and standards.
This five-day Fire Inspector I certification course is
designed to provide the participant with an in-depth review of
the skills attendant to the duties of a Fire Inspector I job
performance requirements (JPRs) of NFPA 1031, Standard for
Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner, Chapter 3, 1998 edition.
The focus of this Level I course is on preparation of
correspondence and inspection reports; handling of complaints;
maintenance of records; fire safety inspections of new and
existing structures and properties for construction, occupancy,
fire protection, and exposures.
Included with this course is a final examination which,
upon successful completion, enables the participant to request
Fire Inspector I certification from the Maryland Fire Service
Personnel Qualifications Board (MFSPQB) and the National Board
on Fire Service Professional Qualifications.
Participants
must be nationally certified Hazardous Materials First Responder
Awareness to enroll.

Fire Inspector II Certification Program - NFPA 1031
The Fire Inspector II
conducts most types of inspections and interprets applicable
codes and standards. This
five-day Fire Inspector II certification course is designed to
provide the participant with an in-depth review of the skills
attendant to the duties of a Fire Inspector II job performance
requirements (JPRs) of NFPA 1031, Standard for Professional
Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner, Chapter
4, 1998 edition. The
focus of this Level II course is on application, interpretation,
and analysis of new and existing structures for construction,
occupancy, fire protection, and exposures.
Discussion and application will also include the review
and specification of plans for construction, fire, and life
safety protection. Included
with this course is a final examination which, upon successful
completion, enables the participant to request Fire Inspector II
certification from the Maryland Fire Service Personnel
Qualifications Board (MFSPQB) and the National Board on Fire
Service Professional Qualifications.
Participants
must be nationally certified Fire Inspector I to enroll.

Fire Inspector III Certification Program - NFPA 1031
The
Fire Inspector III performs all types of inspections, plan review
duties, and resolves complex code related issues.
This five-day Fire Inspector III certification course is
designed to provide the participant with an in-depth review of the
skills attendant to the duties of a Fire Inspector III job
performance requirements (JPRs) of NFPA 1031, Standard for
Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner,
Chapter 5, 1998 edition. The
focus of this Level III course is scenario based, which is aimed
at administrative duties that include recommendations; creating
and evaluation of policies and procedures for life safety
inspections and code enforcement activities; and field inspection
activities that include analysis of code compliance alternatives,
evaluation of construction, occupancy, fire protection, and
exposures. Included
with this course is a final examination which, upon successful
completion, enables the participant to request Fire Inspector III
certification from the Maryland Fire Service Personnel
Qualifications Board (MFSPQB) and the National Board on Fire
Service Professional Qualifications.
Participants
must be nationally certified Fire Inspector II to enroll.
