Conducting Safe Live Fire Training Evolutions

The goal of this 12 hour course is to provide participants with the introductory knowledge to safely conduct fire training evolutions. A wide range of subjects are addressed, including the history of live fire training, legal considerations, and the impact of training-related line-of-duty deaths and serious injuries. In addition, there is discussion of various risk-reduction strategies including preventing heat stress, ensuring hydration, performing rehabilitation, and ensuring an effective rotation of instructors. Major focus is placed upon safe strategies for conducting training in gas-fired and non-gas fired structures, the use of non-structural fire training props, and acquired structures. Various activities are provided throughout the program to reinforce the principles taught.
