Emergency Medical Technician Online Continuing Education - 15 hrs

This self-paced, online-only continuing education course delivers the following general education content with associated hours as currently designated by the Maryland State EMS Medical Director.

  1. 3 hours - Airway/Ventilation/Respiratory
  2. 3 hours - Cardiovascular
  3. 3 hours - Trauma/Burns
  4. 2 hours - Medical
  5. 2 hours - Pediatrics
  6. 1 hour -- OB/GYN
  7. 1 hour -- Toxicology/Environmental
Successful Completion: This self-paced, online-only continuing education course has been approved by MIEMSS to satisfy 15 of the 24 hours of the continuing education component required for Maryland EMT recertification. This course, when used in conjunction with "EMS 217: Emergency Medical Technician Skills: Technical Proficiency Verification - 9 hrs", satisfies the 24 hours of continuing education component required for Maryland EMT recertification. Students must submit a separate online registration application to enroll in EMS 217.

Students must successfully complete all 15 hours of content within 45 days of the posted start date in order to receive credit for the course. Partial credit is not awarded.

Prerequisites

(1) Students must be a current, licensed NREMT or Maryland Emergency Medical Technician; or who are seeking reinstatement as a licensed Maryland Emergency Medical Technician. **Students seeking reinstatement must provide the coordinating MFRI office with documentation from MIEMSS authorizing them to enroll prior to being accepted into the course.**

(2) This course is exclusively delivered online and requires the use of an electronic device capable of connecting to the internet, an internet web browser and a unique, valid email address not shared with another individual.
