Course Description: Major topics covered in this course are the function and responsibilities of the truck company; forced entry; ground ladder use; techniques and procedures for locating victims; techniques for removal of smoke and gases; salvage operations; checking for fire extension; procedures for overhauling; building construction; utility control; and electrical and lighting the fireground. This course includes team-focused practical exercises.

This class will require additional student work outside of normal class hours to include, but not limited to; take-home assignments, PTIs, study guides, and assigned readings from the textbook. This may also include coursework that must be completed prior to the first class session.

Prerequisites

MFRI Basic Fire, Essentials of Firefighting IV, Firefighter I (FIRE 101 or FIRE 105), or equivalent.
