New Fire Chief I: Challenging Issues (NFA)
Instructional Hours: 16.00
Course Objective: To develop the managerial, administrative and leadership skills necessary for the first time fire chief and chief officer who desire a leadership position in their department.
Course Description: Major topics covered in this course are local politics and the role of the chief officer, liability and risk management, resources and items of knowledge needed to become a first time leader in a new position in their agency. Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion and classroom activities.
Successful Completion: Students must attend all class sessions and complete classroom activities.
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this course. MFRI Fire Officer III (MGMT 301) is recommended.
