Adult Learning Disabilities (MICRB #302) - 6 hrs

Instructional Hours: 6.00

One of the most challenging parts of serving as an emergency services instructor is how to help your students with learning disabilities, whether they have been diagnosed or not, when you have no training as a special educator. This first half of this course is designed to help the instructor understand the science of how students learn, the different types of learning disabilities, and the laws that they must comply with. Attention will be given to the unique challenges of these students in both the high school cadet as well as standard courses. The second half of this course provides instructors with strategies to help reach these students, including ways that you can utilize artificial intelligence as a student's personal tutor.

Instructors must attend the full day to receive credit. Partial credit will not be awarded.

Prerequisites

Instructors must bring a laptop or tablet, as they will develop a resource that they can immediately implement in their class.
