Training is a skill that is desirable for all to possess. The Maryland Fire and
Rescue Institute offers a variety of levels of EMS Training to meet your
Medical Technician -
Knowledge Skills and Abilities to perform Emergency Medical Care in a
Pre-Hospital Environment at the Basic Life Support Level.
Medical Responder –
Knowledge Skills and Abilities to begin assessment and care for injured or ill
patients. First Responder and Non-First Responder levels are available.
Medical Services Officer I –
Knowledge Skills and Abilities to function as a First Line Supervisor in
Emergency Medical Services Operations and Administrations.
First Aid –
Provides Critical Skills necessary to respond to and manage an emergency in the
first few minutes until Emergency Medical Services arrive. Adult and Pediatric
- CPR AED – Adult and Child CPR and AED use; Infant CPR
and how to relieve choking in adults, children, and infants.
Training is available for all disciplines.
