Incident Safety Officer (NFA)

Instructional Hours: 16.00

Course Objective: To provide understanding of the safety officer’s role at emergency response situations, with specific emphasis on the role of the safety officer in the incident command system. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to demonstrate the skills required to function effectively as a safety officer at emergency incidents.

Course Description: Major topics covered in this course are the role of the safety officer, regulations, standards and policies, record keeping and documentation and risk management and communications. Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, classroom exercises, and case studies.

Successful Completion: Students must attend required classroom sessions and complete all required classroom activities.
