This course provides students with the knowledge, skills and abilities to safely and effectively perform basic firefighting operations as part of a firefighting team. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to understand and apply the principles of fire behavior; fire suppression, building construction; water distribution systems; fixed fire protection systems; ventilation; hose streams; fire prevention; and inspections, ladders, and rescue techniques.

Successful Completion: Students must attend required classroom sessions, complete all assigned online and classroom activities and homework assignments, demonstrate proficiency in the practical skills evolutions and obtain a score of 70% or better on the written and practical examinations.

Upon successful completion, this course partially satisfies the professional certification requirements for Firefighter I.
