New Fire Chief II: Administrative Issues (NFA)

Instructional Hours: 16.00

Course Objective: To provide students the managerial, administrative and leadership skills and awareness necessary for new or recently appointed or elected Chiefs to effectively meet their obligations of the position.

Course Description: Major topics covered in this course are local politics and the role of the chief officer, liability and risk management, resources and items of knowledge needed to become a first time leader in a new position in their agency. Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion and classroom activities.

Successful Completion: Students must attend all class sessions and complete classroom activities.

Prerequisites

New Fire Chief I: Challenging Issues (MGMT 257).
