Based from the book, "The First Days of School" by Harry Wong and Rosemary Wong. The class will cover four of the five instructional understandings. It will also cover the basic understandings of The Teacher:

• First Characteristic: Positive Expectations
• Second Characteristic: Classroom Management
• Third Characteristic: Lesson Mastery

At the completion of instruction the student will be able to explain:

• the three characteristics of a professional teacher;
• what constitutes positive expectations in the teaching environment;
• how to properly establish and maintain professional classroom management; and
• the importance of lesson mastery for the professional teacher or teacher-leader
