Scenarios: High Rise

Commanding a high-rise incident requires an enhanced command organization.

Commanding a high-rise incident requires an enhanced command organization. Command changes are discussed in detail during the simulations. You will learn the span of control using divisions, groups, and branches from experienced instructors who have been there. Crew resource management on a high-rise fire becomes a critical skill you practice while in our simulation lab. You will learn why command presence is so important and why effective leadership during the initial stages, and during the duration of this type of incident, will contribute drastically to the successful outcome of the emergency incident. Fire dynamics are taught in order to understand fire flow issues, dynamics of fire and wind conditions, and other related high-rise concerns both in and out of the structure. Fires in a high-rise structure are much different than most structures you fight fire in. The ICSC is the ‘drill ground for officers” and the only place the skills can be learned that are necessary to protect personnel before a high-rise fire occurs.
