Maryland Instructor Certification Review Board (MICRB) is an independent five-member board created as a unit within the University System of Maryland responsible for the administration of the State Emergency Services Instructor Certification Program. Authority: Education Article, §§11-105 and 11-503, Annotated Code of Maryland - Title 13B Maryland Higher Education Commission, Subtitle 03 Fire-Rescue Education and Training Commission, Chapter 01 Certification Standards and Procedures for Emergency Services Instructors.

MICRB ADMINISTRATION

The office of the Chairman is located on the College Park Campus of the University of Maryland, at MFRI Headquarters, 4500 Campus Drive. Administrative services are staffed remotely. Please contact your sponsoring agency or call 301-226-9962 with any questions about the State Emergency Services Instructor certification process.

The next meeting of the MICRB is scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at MFRI Headquarters in College Park. THE DEADLINE FOR ALL APPLICATIONS IS COB FRIDAY, October 17, 2025.

INSTRUCTOR EVALUATOR WORKSHOP - MFRI LOWER EASTERN SHORE REGIONAL TRAINING CENTER

The MICRB has scheduled an Instructor Evaluator Workshop, to be held Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the MFRI Lower Eastern Shore Regional Training Center in Princess Anne. The workshop will run from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., and will include the TTT on the new instructor evaluation form.

This workshop is limited to 15 qualified State Emergency Services Instructors, with the endorsement of their sponsoring agency. Candidates for this workshop must be submitted by their sponsoring agency - they may not register directly. In order to qualify, candidates must have completed a minimum of one three-year certification cycle. Please provide the following TO khaje@umd.edu:

Board Membership

The MICRB is comprised of representatives of the Maryland Fire-Rescue Education and Training Commission, the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute, the Maryland Council of Fire and Rescue Academies, the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems, and the Maryland State Firemen's Association. Members are appointed by the Chancellor of the University System of Maryland.
