Technical Rescue: Surface Water Rescue Technician

Course Description: Participants will learn hazard recognition, incident management and victim survival profiles at the Awareness level, followed by practical Operations-level training in rescue techniques, shore-based and boat-based operations and use of specialized equipment. At the Technician level, students will develop advanced rescue skills, including in-water rescues, team-based operations, and complex scenario management.

This class will require additional student work outside of normal class hours to include, but not limited to; take-home assignments, PTIs, study guides, and assigned readings from the textbook. This may also include coursework that must be completed prior to the first class session.

Total course hours are dependent on the size of the class. Actual number of course hours may be less than advertised.

Prerequisites

Students must be able to pass the MFRI swim test.
